Essential Question: In what ways does our family reinforce commitment to learning for our children?

Tips for increasing positive school engagement:

  • Stay in touch with your child’s school experience by asking specific questions about their day – including what went well and what was challenging. Reinforce a school subject by having a whole family conversation about it at the dinner table.
  • If your child experiences boredom in the classroom, talk with his or her teacher about providing enriching assignments that will give more challenge. Seek mentors outside of school who can provide more depth to topics or issues your child is interested in to cultivate a love of learning.
  • When you talk about school, stay positive. Let your children know learning can be an enjoyable life-long pursuit.
